This week has been quite crazy! So buckle up... this is going to be good.So Hermana Demarrow got her her boot off on Tuesday, so we were able to do a lot of door knocking and just get around easier. Also we had zone conference which was a really amazing opportunity to get to know our new mission president and his family and learn things that can help us in our work. It was in Murfreesboro, TN which was about an hour from Mt. Juliet.
Full-time car got revoked, and we were given part-time car starting on the next Sunday. We just had a week with a lot of meetings and seeing people.
All of that kinda pales in comparison to what has happening in about the last day. Saturday night we were preparing for bed and we got a call from President Stone. He said there was a situation in Kentucky and a English sister was going home, and to avoid shutting down her area, they were going to emergency transfer me to Bowling Green, Kentucky! I was instruced to get to the mission home right after church the next day. We hurriedly packed all my stuff, and stayed up pretty late doing it and went to church the next day, luggage in hand, and dropped it in the clerks office. I gave a talk in sacrament meeting (which was really more like a long testimony, due to my lack time) and after drove with a member to the mission home.
I spent a couple of nice hours with President and Sister Stone and their family. Then my new companion showed up Her name is Sister H-----. She is an English-speaking sister, so I will be in a zebra (English/Spanish) for the next 3 weeks of the transfer. She is toe head blonde and 4'8" tall. We are quite the companionship. We made the couple hour drive to Bowling Green and got in pretty late last night, then we slept and woke up and studied, unpacked and here we are! We joke that we are both training - she is training an English missionary and I am training a Spanish missionary! I am excited to see what this next week brings!
Spiritual thought is from the Book of Mormon in Moroni 7:33. And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me. I love this because it is true. And faith, mostly importantly faith in Jesus Christ our Savior, can give us power to make anything happen, to move mountains and change lives!
I hope you have a great week!
Love,Hermana/ Sister NielsonP.S. I noticed Sister H----- is standing on a good couple inch step!
This week we had a great week! It was my 6 month mark this week! We have been tracting a lot! Our plan was 2 1/2 hours everyday! We mostly did that everyday. Sometimes it was difficult if we couldn't find someone to stay with my comp with a broken foot. We would drive the car, knock a couple doors, go back move the car. Sometimes it was slow going, but we had some success! We met a lot of people, many of whom already were in our area book. We have found more people to teach as we put in our time knocking! We actually taught some people who live in a mansion! Which definitely is different, but it's a wonderful finding opportunity because we estimate there are about 20-30 Hispanic people who live in that house. I think they were teaching someone else in the house, but they sent some other people who were interested to meet with us!
We also met a man named R------ who only has one foot but was very good friends with one of our less active members. We actually had the opportunity to teach him in their home. The Spirit was so strong, and we are really excited to teach him more. We have had a lot of success with less actives teaching with us and inviting their friends. One less active member actually gave us some addresses for battlegrounds for the new Pokemon game. This game makes people go to physical locations to battle other Pokemon. One happens to be our church and another our temple and other various places around Hermitage. We will be doing some street contacting with Pokemon!
We also starting teaching a less active member's daughter, and we are very excited for her. She came to church yesterday and convinced her mom to come! It was very exciting!
We also had a miracle yesterday while tracting. We met a women who invited us right in, and we taught her the Restoration and she really liked it! We were so excited because she is the first person we've met in along time who isn't a referral or a former investigator. We think she has tons of potential!
The work is rolling on here! The spiritual message in all this craziness is that the power or prayer is real so use it! Hopefully everyone can have a great week!
Love,Hermana Nielson
P.S. This dress is classic traditional clothing in Chihuahua, Mexico and sometimes you end up in pink dresses at dinner appointments. Look mom, I'm a Chihuahuan!
P.P.S. Me and the sisters on my 6 month mark!
Hello from Hermitage/Mt Juliet, TN!
I am in a new area with new companions! I am with Hermana H--- and Hermana D-------! I've heard they put the best missionaries in trios because that just feels like my fate. Trios are pretty awesome. They are definitely more fun, and we are able to go out with any member and get rides from anyone.
This week has definitely been a new experience for me. We are not that far from Nashville, but the Hispanic ratio has significantly dropped. It is really pretty here. It has so many spread out houses and a lot more trees! I really like it here. We have such a supportive branch (not many people about 40 including kids), but we receive so much support. I have had dinner with a different member everyday since I got here, and that is not out of the ordinary. So I am super excited about that.
We had a investigator come to church yesterday! Her name is R----, and she has an adorable son named F-----. She has been investigating the church for awhile, and we met with her this week and invited her to set a baptism date because she wasn't progressing. After much prodding, she told us her goal for baptism is the 27th of October. That's not acceptable! So we will work on it.
I'm still working on getting the lay of the land. We found some awesome potential investigators this week. Funny story -- we met one man and he said to come back the next day. We went back the next day and only his roommate was home. We invited him to listen to us and he said, "Okay, but I want to see if my roommates car is home." He walked around the corner and never came back... He drove away. Ha ha! Some people are too nice to say no.
We have some members in our branch who are just out for summer sales. They help us a lot. In the fall, it is going to be different, but we are so excited to have them now.
I am super excited to be here and watch Buena Vista flourish!
Have a great week!Hermana Nielson
P.S. My companions and I and the other sisters here.
P.P.S It was a very bright day!
Happy 4th of July to everyone!
First thing is the 4th of July in Nashville, TN is bigger than Christmas! It is a huge holiday! We are spending it downtown! Partaking in the festivities. It is so amazing and such a dream! Itis a very patriotic place.
The next thing is that we got F----- on date! We had an amazing lesson with him the other day, and we committed him to be baptized on July 25th! We are so excited for him. He understands so much!
The other thing is that I am being transferred tomorrow. :( I am leaving my beloved Providencia Ward and investigators and moving to Buena Vista! I am going to be in a trio! Again. Don't worry I am not going far... just the next area over on the other side of the lake. 10 miles maybe. I am excited because they used to be part of our ward, but they spilt and are a branch now! I do not know much, but both hermanas have been previous companions of my other comps, so I am excited! The town is called Hermitage. I will keep you updated.
Awesome things from this week. We met with the less active familia R-----, and they kept our commitment to read everyday as a family and have seen real blessings in their life. We visited with P---- who had been nixing us because he got into some anti stuff. But after the lesson, he decided he wanted us to come back because he likes learning stuff from us and not from YouTube. We really had a great week!
Have a star spangled day!
Hermana Nielson
P.S.- We love Nashville!
